Beatriz Argimón

Beatriz Argimón Cedeira (born August 14, 1961, in Montevideo) is a Uruguayan notary and politician affiliated with the National Party. She served as the 18th Vice President of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay from March 1, 2020, to March 1, 2025, during the presidency of Luis Lacalle Pou, becoming the first woman elected to hold that office.

Uruguay held elections on 27 October 2024, electing the president and members of the bicameral General Asssembly. The president is elected by a two-round system. If no candidate receives a majority of the votes in the first round, a run-off takes place between the two leading candidates (International IDEA n.d.a).
