ARTIGO 101. Regime de Eleição

1. O Presidente da República,é eleito por lista uninominal, segundo o sistema maioritário de duas voltas.

2. É eleito o candidato que obtiver 50% mais um voto validamente expressos.

3. Se nenhum dos candidatos obtiver mais de metade dos votos validamente expressos, realiza-se a segunda volta.

The president is elected on a two-round system: a candidate must receive more than 50 percent of valid votes. If not, a second round takes place within 21 days after the declaration of the presidential first round results. The second round, with a 15 day campaign period, is contested by the two candidates who received the largest number of votes.
