The number of women to be nominated to stand for election to the National Assembly is estimated by the Standing Committee of the National Assembly on the basis of the proposal of the Presidium of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union. At least thirty-five percent of the total number of people on the official list of National Assembly candidates are women (Art. 8.3 National Assembly Election Law).
