A bill enacted in 2019 granted the right to vote for voters residing abroad. Out-of-country voters should have lived for two years in Greece during the previous 35 years and should have submitted a tax return during the year of the election or the previous year. This new provision has been implemented during 2023 Parliamentary Elections, in which 22,855 voters abroad were registered and 18,203 voted (79.65% turnout).
