The Russian Federation is among the top five greenhouse gas emitters in the world, together with China, the US, India and the EU27 (Emissions Database for Global Atmospheric Research). Russia is also a major fossil fuel producer, although its exports have been significantly redirected since the start of the 2022 war in Ukraine.
