Palau is a Small Island Developing State (SIDS), highly vulnerable to climate change, in particular in terms of coral bleaching, sea-level rise and droughts. The country is among the proponents of 'The Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty Initiative', calling for an international agreement on fossil fuel phase-out (World Bank).
